Garden Rules

Congratulations on your purchase of your garden plot at Fodor Farm Community Garden. We hope you enjoy it and all the benefits it has to offer. To provide a safe and fun experience for all, we ask that you follow these rules. Please contact the Friends of Fodor Farm at fodorfarmer01@yahoo.com or fodorfarm@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns.

  • I am a Norwalk resident.
  • I will not be in the garden before dawn or after dusk seven days a week.
  • I will have planted in my garden by May 30th and keep it planted through October, otherwise my plot will be forfeited. (The garden season is from May to the end of October.)
  • I will plant edibles in at least 3/4 of my plot
  • I will maintain my plot within the confines of my 4x12 or 4x18 space. I will not encroach on common areas.
  • I will regularly weed my garden plot and immediate common space.
  • I will not allow my plants to impinge on my neighbors' plot(s).
  • I will only use organic fertilizers and pest control products.
  • If my plot becomes unkempt, I will be given two weeks notice to clean it up. If it is not cleaned, I understand my plot will be forfeited and reassigned.
  • I will dispose of "green waste" (i.e. grass clippings, leaves, non-invasive weeds, yard waste) in designated areas for compost. I will put any disease infested or blighted plants and trash in the garbage bins for removal and not in the compost. I will place recyclables in the recycling bin.
  • I will return borrowed tools and other items to the tool-shed when done.
  • I will not bring pets into the garden.
  • I will secure the gate while in the garden and ensure it is secure upon departure.
  • I understand that neither the Friends of Fodor Farm nor the City of Norwalk is responsible for my actions. I therefore agree to hold harmless the Friends of Fodor Farm and the City of Norwalk for any liability, damage, loss, or claim that occurs in connection with the use of the garden by me or my guests.
